And just like that, our summer vacation is over😩. Seems like I was just celebrating the beginning of summer yesterday! Just like many of you, I’ve been running around for the last few weeks preparing for back to school. The school supplies lists are completely insane nowadays and I have found myself going to 3 different stores in order to get everything on their lists. MJ will (should) have the same teachers he had last year. There are 2 teachers that teach the core subjects and they each have an assistant working with them. His speech therapist and occupational therapist should be the same as well. This year is much different for me than last year. There is no anxiety, worry, or sleepless nights. MJ handled 6th grade “like a boss” lol and I’m expecting the same for this school year.

May he have a successful year. May he even surpass what he did last year.

He is so handsome! My son this year has a teacher with previous background in special education. He finished his first week pretty happily. I hope it goes as well for yours!

Sounds like it will be a very busy school year! I remember those at one time. Now, as a grandpa, I watch it all from the sidelines. I’m still up for a few soccer games here and there.

We homeschool our kids, but I feel sympathy for all the parents who have to deal with the back to school chaos. I can’t imagine how stressful it would be if I were trying to get supplies and clothing for all of mine. Hope your kids have a great school year!

He’s a handsome young man. Well, I think it’s my watch to have anxiety again (smile). Jonathan will begin middle school Tuesday after Labor Day. He still has his resources, but the environment is new and different. I am sure that some of the challenges will be familiar, and some challenges will be new. No matter, God brought us through so far, and He’ll continue to take us further.
Keep me posted on MJ and if you have any suggestions, share them, please.

Thank you! Yes God will definitely bring you through. The anxiety I had last year at this time was incredible but God was there every step of the way. One thing I insisted and fought for was for MJ to meet his teacher and see his classroom before the first day of middle school. It helped him to not be scared and wonder what was going to happen on the first day. I also highly recommended staying in contact with his teachers etc. Praying everything goes smoothly for Jonathan.

Well, Jonathan spent 4 days at his new school the 3rd week of August, along with other children, learning about going to different classes, learning to use the combination locks and meeting some of his school mates (8th graders) who help him and others get accustomed to the new environment. It was the best 4 days he spent there. By the 2nd day, he said, “Mom I can go in by myself”. So I let him. I also signed up for the school Parent Teacher organization. I plan to be in the school as often as I can. Thanks for those tips.
